So welcome to the first episode of Buzz on the Bay with uh my co-host Sean. I'm Cabo Jim. Uh it's a new series we're starting. So we're gonna be doing a lot of different things, talking about a lot of different things about what's happening on the bay, specifically what's happening at Matanzas. So uh what is happening at Matanzas?

Well, I'm very excited to be part of this new program and uh teaming up with you as well. Yep. Uh we have a lot to go over here. We've got a lot of things going on. We've got a fantastic restaurant, we've got PD's Upper Deck, uh the Matanzas Inn, fabulous place to stay right here on the water. Views are outstanding. Um few things coming in the future. We've got the marina, uh, we've got charters, we've got wine cruises, just tons of stuff that people lots of stuff going on.

New Ownership And Big Vision

So Matanzas has been here for a while, but it's kind of under new ownership as it is. Okay.

Yep, it's under new ownership. Um, and gentlemen is very much into the the growth and and bringing it you know back to being on the map and one of the premier places to come.

And that's in your vision. Your vision for it is you have a lot of things going on, a lot of good, exciting things.

So many things. It's and bringing it to the buzz on the bay, that's that's kind of the goal, is let's let's be able to harness all that and get it out there to the public so they know what's happening.

And then in future episodes, we're gonna touch a little bit more and go into more detail about each little part of Matanzas and what and what we're doing. But uh just giving everybody a quick kind of overview. Um, let's just kind of tour

Right. So the restaurant actually has gone through a name change, so it's now on the bay. Yeah, here at Matanzas Inn. It's an upscale uh on the water restaurant. Um fantastic service, fantastic food. Uh future episode, want to bring in the chef. We can talk to him a little bit. Yep. Um, and then we have just upstairs, you go into Petey's upper deck, which is a historic spot. Um Petey visit visits us on occasion. Nice, all right. And then you retire

Right, and the rooms are being all redone, right? The rooms will be going through innovation. They did go through a previous renovation through Ian. Okay. Um, but then they're gonna be some upgrading happening in the near

And then the exciting part of that whole combo is the whole marine and everything that's happened with the boats around here, right?

So that will be um on the bay at Matanzas, and we're gonna be bringing in charter services, we're gonna be bringing in um a premium boat that's gonna be uh able to seat up to 49 people. Wow. We'll be able to do dinner cruises, wine dinners. Uh, we have a already have a future bride and groom that are gonna be having their ceremony on the boat. If they keep their engagement going now, keep that, right?

Those bachelorette parties now are going to be. That's true.

We're holding the bachelorette party too, so I'll keep an eye on it. See? Uh they'll then they have the rooms. We've got some suites that that themselves and and other parties, people in their party will come and stay. We've got the rehearsal dinner here, we've got the the reception. So it's it's a lot of all in one. Yeah, um, and a lot of that we're trying to really tie into some some marine activities activities, yeah, and entertainment and things like that.

Because you got a beautiful view here. I mean, you know, you got the bridge, but then you got the whole bay back here, and yeah, and access to the to the ocean.

Yeah, just stone through around the water. Just right around the corner, right? And you're on the water, watching the sunset, right? On the water, you can't beat that.

A One-Stop Waterfront Vacation Pitch

Uh, fishing charters. Okay. We'll have fishing charters, go out, fish, come back, cook the fish.

So you're looking to be almost like a one-stop where hey, I come to Matanzas, I get everything I need for my percentage vacation. Absolutely.

We'll get you from the airport to here and then get you back after memories you've you couldn't even dreamed of. Exciting stuff.

And then you've got, you know, again, the great view, and right before we went on, where there were some dolphins over here.

Exactly, dolphins, manatees yesterday. It's it's quite the place.

It's you know, a beautiful view, beautiful food. But uh, anything else you want to include as far as what's going on or you know, things that we want to touch on in future episodes?

Um, gosh, it's a it's a long list. We're gonna get into some some high-end boating ideas where we're gonna be able to take you on um some of these extravagant boats around the area, uh, take you out on some fishing charters itself. Uh, and then even evenings where we have entertainment upstairs. Um, we'd like to bring you on and and you know include people, show them what they're missing and why they need to come here.

Yep, seven nights a week, entertainment. I mean, there's so many reasons and so many things uh happening down here. We just want to create that buzz on the bay and let people know that it's here.

Yeah, well, we're buzzing and uh I'll be buzzing whenever you go. But uh, but no, it's it's it's exciting to hear good things happening back here. Fort Myers Beach needs something like this. Absolutely. Uh there's a lot, you know, that you're encompassing and you can do, and it it's all great and exciting because I mean who wouldn't want to do one if not all those things?

Oh, absolutely. And that's the thing you can do just one, or you can tie it all together for an experience. Yep. Fort Myers Beach has a lot of up on the beach, but we have this whole world back here on the bay that people just don't realize the the gem that's back here, and that's what we want to do is bring all that information to the front. Yeah. And let people see it and come in here.

I talked to a lot of people, and they're like, you know, they're they sit out there on the beach and they're expecting to see the Delphine. Go to the back bay, I'll see more back there all the time.

Exactly. So they come right up to the dock. Yep. It's beautiful. Exactly. Perfect.

Exactly. And it's not that far from the truth here. I mean, right? We're talking about one million to a hundred million dollar boats that people don't usually get to see that, and we're gonna bring it to you so you can.

And they're choosing to be here in Fort Myers Beach. Absolutely. There's something going on that's bringing those type of people here. Absolutely. We're gonna we're gonna keep the buzz going.
